The Reaper's Preacher Roman Saenko is one of three artists I mention in the same breath when asked who my favourite musician is. Sergiy Tkachenko may well be added to that list soon.

Ippocalyptica This is very sincere black metal that is rather evocative of communion with nature and our place within the grander world in which we all live (though not being able to understand the lyrics, I am just expressing my main impression here). I cannot point to any one element of this album that stands out in particular, but I can wholeheartedly tell you that this is a standout album in the atmospheric black metal canon, with very impressive song craft and technical proficiency, especially considering that this is all just ONE MAN! What is most interesting about this work, I believe, is how it is somehow comforting to listen to even during its most intense and blasting sections, which reminds me of Panopticon and Saor, two extremely favorable comparators. I will pay close attention to svrm in the future, because his future is extremely bright.

last vinyl before doomsday Hypnotic black metal with atmospheric sections that never stops being relentless and pummelling.

vtps It's difficult to think of another project who can put this much soul into their work. Favorite track: Лихиї вітри стогнуть без упину.

about

recorded winter-spring 2018

sole member Sergey Tkachenko shows extreme instrumental proficiency on his first full-length album, and captures all of the emotion necessary to create soulful black metal that, despite its ferocity, still feels like a loving embrace.
